Joseph Fields is a full-time husband, father, and organic farmer; He is also an educator, community leader, and the sole-proprietor of Joseph Fields Farm. Joseph is a third-generation farmer born and raised on John’s Island, SC, with more than 45 years of experience running his farm.
The Fields Family is known and loved in their Charleston community for their huge and humble hearts. Joseph and his wife Helen registered with the SC Department of Agriculture’s Farm to School Program, and were Charleston’s first farmers to register for “Healthy Bucks”, a government incentive program to reward those on EBT and Food Stamps for buying food directly from the farm. This is part of the Fields’ effort to make healthy food accessible to all of their neighbors, regardless of income group.
The Fields Family stands as a shining example of humility, service and hard work, and has recently partnered with Earth Heart Growers, a farm-to-school initiative working to re-nature and educate the next generation youth by partnering public school children with their local farms.
Joseph’s mentorship has inspired the likes of The Federation of Southern Cooperative, Saafon, Clemson, NRCS, South Carolina State University, Sea Island Farmers Cooperative, Lowcountry Local First’s founder Nikki George, Green Heart’s founder Drew Harrison, and Earth Heart Grower’s founder Liz Ramirez.
Our mission is to best serve you, the land and our community. Please come and see us!
